Home from home

I have come to realise that the care home we visit on a Sunday is justthat- HOME, to many men and women; I have made friends there over many years. I remember when my mum needed more care than I could manage, saying to God ‘can’t mum come and live with you now?’ and Him saying ‘no, I still have more work for her to do.’ And these brave men and women are often living with discomfort or disability day in and day out, and are great examples to me of remarkable cheer, courage, and endurance. They show me what it looks like to be ‘content in all circumstances’ and to run a good race.

Some come to the service who feel let down by God through bereavement or suffering, and as they sing, proclaiming God’s faithfulness and love, and say the familiar words of the Lord’s Prayer, God settles a peace on them. Others come week after week hungry for God’s presence – and He ALWAYS meets with us. However chaotic and disrupted the morning is, God is always in the middle of it all, and ministers to His people. Everyone, including us, leaves feeling better for having met with God, and letting Him love us.
